And then RALF ate Gary... just like he ate Jerry.

And that's a wrap for Maternity Test, possibly the most hated story arc in the history of the Super Haters.

Speaking of hatin' on Maternity Test, there's a brand new Destruct-O-Cast podcast out today. And my guest, Brett Wallwork, says that Maternity Test is his least favorite Haters story of all time. Wow. Will the hate ever stop?!?! Anyway, here's the episode:

As for next week, we launch into a brand new story arc featuring some ridiculous hijinks and unexpected plot twists (uh oh... now you'll be expecting them!). I don't wanna spoil it too much, so I've created this cryptic equation to tease the plot: NO $$$ + DOT as RON = FRENCH FRY HANDCUFFS. Did you figure it out yet??? Leave your guesses in the comments!
Overhearing some talk about cookies, RALF popped in and Gary's not too happy about it.

Bye, Gary!!!! I'd say it was nice knowing you, but honestly... you were an ass.

I'll see the rest of you tomorrow for the Destruct-O-Cast #4 and the conclusion of this story arc!

UPDATE: Ross said something in the comments that reminded me... I forgot to share a very important link with you! See, today's comic strip has a historical precedent. Specifically, Super Haters #262. Thus one brother meets the same fate as the other.
Gary's unorthodox method of elfin paternity testing might actually be working!

I was proven wrong yesterday. One person spoke up against my theory that everyone hates this current story arc. And that person was none other than the tweeterific Johannsone.

I tweeted "Also, it's come to my attention that some of you aren't enjoying this current Super Haters story arc as much as usual..." to which she replied "@super_haters what? no way. You had me at Ass Pun! and anyway, I need to know who elfed Mind's Eye."

So now I'm officially making this story arc for two people... myself and Johannsone. And the rest of the world can go suck it!!!

In totally unrelated news, a new Sequential Underground podcast is out today. In this episode, Shawn Atkins and I talk with our buddy and local Pittsburgh comics creator Ed Piskor about his views on hip hop history and comics creation. Ed has a new feature on his Brain Rot webcomic called Hip Hop Family Tree. If you have haven't already seen it, go check it out!!

Okay, that's it for today. See you tomorrow when shit hits the fan between Gary and RALF!
Mind's Eye refuses to pay for an expensive paternity test just to calm Gary's curiosity.

Last night, I was recording the next episode of the Destruct-O-Cast and something came up... something that didn't surprise me at all based upon the reaction I've been seeing lately: some people don't like our current Maternity Test story arc very much.

Frankly, the blame falls squarely on my shoulders. This was my idea and almost completely written by me. And while I love the idea of Gary showing up and harassing Mind's Eye, I can see why you may not be enjoying this story as much as Republican Motherhood.

However, if you're hatin' on Maternity Test and Gary, the good news is that you don't have to wait long for this arc to wrap up. The story ends on Friday AND I have some twists and turns that kick in starting tomorrow. So hang in there! Next Monday, a brand new arc begins, with Destruct-O-Tron's unique brand of stupidity anchoring its plot.

Anyway, totally unrelated to all of that, as a final note for today... this past weekend, I posted on Facebook about the research I did for today's comic strip. Funny stuff. Check it out.
Gary is starting to get creepy.

Uhhhhm right, anyhooooo...

The Eagle Awards nomination round is still open! (I told you that you'd get sick of me doing this.) See, whatcha do is... 1. GO HERE, 2. pick "Super Haters" for Q19: Favourite Web-Based Comic, 3. submit the survey, and 4. confirm your vote via email. That's it!

Now, if you want, you can vote for other stuff too. Personally, I recommend Ross Campbell, Shadoweyes in Love, Dave Wachter, Tom Scioli, and Black Panther. But you don't have to fill out the rest of the form if you don't want to. You can just pick Super Haters and be done.

If the Haters are gonna make it to the finals (which, let's be honest, is definitely a looooong shot), they're gonna need all the support they can get. So your vote is very very appreciated.

Anyway, that's all I've got for today. See you tomorrow for more awkward Gary and Mind's Eye hijinks!
Gary is convinced that Mind's Eye's last fling with his brother got her pregnant.

NOOOOO, MIND'S EYE! DON'T SAY YES. YOU DON'T WANNA KNOW!!

Anyway, on a lighter note, it's Friday and that means... new Destruct-O-Cast! Today, I talk with Andrew Kilian about our collaboration from last fall, an epic story featuring his hyper-real art and my hyper-insane plot! Here's the episode:

I'm still planning next week's episode... so if you have any ideas, lemme know!
Gary thinks Mind's Eye is pregnant with his dead brother's baby.

Wanna hear something a bit embarrassing? I wrote up a ton of different versions of that last line, trying to find something funny, topical, and that rhymed. In the process of writing, I actually had to look up the word tryst to make sure it meant what I thought it meant. So if you're a bit unclear on it, check out the definition of tryst for yourself.

Have you been watching this show called The Increasing Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret? Apparently the "first season" (only six episodes) aired in the fall of 2010 on IFC, and now they're just getting around to airing the "second season" (only six more shows) this month. I'm not sure how that worked out, exactly... but it's fucking hilarious! It's streaming on Netflix, and I highly recommend it, especially for fans of the humor on display here in Super Haters.

Also -- Eagle Awards nominations. Vote Super Haters for Q19. Don't need to vote in any other categories if you don't want to. Email verification required afterwards but I promise they won't spam your address. Please vote! Super Haters needs your help to get to the finals!!!

And don't forget -- tomorrow is Friday, Destruct-O-Cast day!!! I'll have a brand new episode featuring special guest Andrew Kilian, who'll join me to discuss our collaboration and his philosophy on making comics.
Mind's Eye thought she was looking at a ghost... but it turned out to be Gary, the brother of her deceased lover.

Nothing special to tell you about today's Super Haters comic, folks! But I do have linkage:

Okay, that's it. See you tomorrow!

If you were wondering "Who in the fuck is Jerry Jingle?" while reading this comic strip, let me give you some quick backstory:

  • In Super Haters #171, we learned that Mind's Eye had a mysterious sex slave elf named Jerry.
  • In Super Haters #187, we finally got to see Jerry (and his Dat Ass paddle) for the first time.
  • In Super Haters #198, Mind's Eye convinced Susan to take Jerry back to her place for a few days.
  • In Super Haters #202, Jerry officially left Mind's Eye for his new lover, Susan.
  • In Super Haters #262, Mind's Eye and Jerry seemed to be on good terms again when she introduced him to RALF...
  • ...but then RALF ate Jerry. And that was that.

So that's Jerry in a nutshell! From devoted sex slave to unloyal lover to RALF's afternoon snack.

Also, here's a fun fact that's relatively important to the overall continuity of Super Haters (and, in particular, this story) -- Super Haters story arcs occur in real time. Now what I'm saying doesn't apply to reading Super Haters day-to-day. The comics within an individual story arc may occur within minutes of the character's lives, though they may be posted during two weeks of our lives. However, time passes between each story arc. And the amount of time that passes makes the story arcs fall into a similar calendar as ours.

For example, in continuity, Jerry left Mind's Eye for Susan last summer. Last summer also happens to be when I posted the In Lust story arc here on the Super Haters blog. Currently, it's mid-January in both our reality and Super Haters continuity. Get it? So as this particular story arc progresses, that timeline will be important. And, frankly, that general timeline will remain important into the future.

What do you think? Do you like that the passage of time in Super Haters is similar to the passage of time in our lives?
Mind's Eye is about to receive a very unexpected visit...

Ooooo!!! Who's at the door? You'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out!!

Of course, you could always listen to the Destruct-O-Cast #2, where I hint at our surprise guest pretty early on in the episode. Or you could just wait a crippling 24 hours for the surprise!

Over the weekend, I posted the full Republican Motherhood story arc on Facebook, Tumblr, and Google+. And I received some kickass preliminary art from Kaylie McDougal for her upcoming guest week... art which I can't share yet! SORRY!!

Finally, don't forget about the Eagle Awards! Super Haters needs your vote!!! Go here to fill out the nomination survey, and remember -- you don't have to answer every question. In fact, you can leave everything else blank except for Q19: Favourite Web-Based Comic (to which you MUST answer Super Haters!). Also, you have to confirm your vote via email. But don't worry -- the Eagles won't spam you. They just wanna make sure you're a human and not a bot. And I mucho appreciate your nominations. I'm really gonna need your help to make it to the finals, and if we DO make it there, know that it's a victory for all of us because I couldn't have done it without your help!
