Sadness -- that's the feeling everyone is experiencing after the death of Destruct-O-Tron. But is all this anger and depression finally giving way to acceptance?
And that's a wrap for Ross Campbell's
Super Haters Guest Week!!! Ross, thx you so much for being the first one to tackle the challenge of seven Super Haters scripts. You told a sad story... and a damn good one, at that!
Everyone is coping with the
the loss of Destruct-O-Tron.
Everyone is grieving and struggling with the loss of their friend after attending
Destruct-O-Tron's funeral.
AHHHH!!!! I'm late!!! Sorry this one is going up a few hours after our regularly scheduled posting time, but I've been running around like crazy getting ready for this weekend's SPACE in Columbus. Check out
this post on my blog if you wanna know more about what I have going on this weekend (as well what I have going on next Monday when I
give a talk at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh in Oakland).
Previously in Super Haters: Mulldusa and Doc delivered the bad news to Mind's Eye --
Destruct-O-Tron is dead, killed by a brain hemorrhage.
When Ross told me that he wanted to kill Destruct-O-Tron, I knew that #100 would have to be epic. He scripted his arc just right, making sure that Destruct-O-Tron's funeral landed on this anniversary installment (though, truthfully,
#91 was actually the 100th strip due to the variants I did back in the 50s).
Ross's script for #100 originally called for three panels. First rain, then the casket, then the attendees. I suggested combining panels two and three together so it would be rain and then the funeral. But I didn't explain my idea well, and Ross thought I meant one giant panel.
After trying a very rough version of my (boring) two panel version, Ross told me that he thought I was only doing one panel, which I felt was a FAR better idea than what I actually imagined. COLLABORATION! The only downside was that #100 went through a bunch of different versions and it took me days to finish it.
Destruct-O-Tron was talking to Mulldusa about his love life when he suddenly keeled over and
fell to the ground.
THAT'S RIGHT -- Destruct-O-Tron is dead.
Ross originally wanted to do a story arc of strips featuring mundane conversation, and that's how the whole
asparagus thing from #97 came to be. But then out of nowhere Ross asked me if he could kill off Destruct-O-Tron... I said yes, and that's how we ended up with the story arc we have now!!!
Make sure to get yer asses back here tomorrow for the mega super intense anniversary un-celebration that is Destruct-O-Tron's funeral in Super Haters #100.
While gossiping with Mulldusa, Destruct-O-Tron
suddenly keeled over.
After Destruct-O-Tron had sex with her old friend, Susan, Mind's Eye made a move on her superhero partner and things
got really messy.
