Justique and Nick are searching in
all the wrong places for the missing Mind's Eye and Destruct-O-Tron.
OMG... we found the Super Haters!!! But
The Snatcher is being a totally dingleberry and trying to fry our faces off.
In other
(far, far better) news, last night I got a sweet Tweet that had a link to a delicious treat... an incredible pinup of Destruct-O-Tron and Mind's Eye by
Carrie Howarth! Doesn't it rock? Thanks, Carrie!
Okay, folks. Seriously. Tomorrow is it. The end of this webcomic. But...
will it also be the end of Justique and Nick?!?!? Be back in one day for the scintillating conclusion!
Here's an officially official Super Haters webcomics announcement...
That's right, damn it!!! Destruct-O-Tron and Mind's Eye return next Monday, May 26th and run daily
(Monday through Friday to be exact) through Super Haters #500 on Wednesday, June 26th.
The festivities kick off on the 26th with the trailer for my collaboration with
Francisco Gruel, the artist of the above image. It's a fun story that's sure to offend you and tickle your tummy.
Oh, one other thing... I'm proud to announce that The Graphic Novel Formerly Known As The Bible 2
-- my hyper top secret collaboration with Daniel Arruda Massa (artist of the fun Haters fanart above) -- has found a publisher! That's all I can say for now. More news soon.
Sketch card artist and Super Haters storyteller
Angela Capel has crafted a couple of anthropomorphic drawings that make me wish Mind's Eye and Destruct-O-Tron were animals!
Giraffe Mind's Eye began with an off-hand joke on last Tuesday's episode of
A Podcast with Kaylie and Nick #190. Struggling to sketch while listening to the podcast, Angela drew giraffe Mind's Eye on a whim and I'm so glad she did!
And I'm not the only one who feels that way. Here's what Justique had to say:
"That's the best giraffe Mind's Eye I've ever seen. Probably the best giraffe Mind's Eye in the world, if I may be so bold."
As for the S-
ewe-per Haters on the right, Angela
drew those last year after we completed our
Sheep Haters story arc. I love the details in this piece, especially the textures created by the rich colors.
Thanks for making the Haters look so fantastic, Angela!
Ryan Rogers wants to make sure the Haters accomplish all of their goals before they're gone for good this June:
Ryan is a fantastic supporter of the Super Haters and I super appreciate this awesome cartoon! Check out more of Ryan's work including
Tomb of the Undead,
Spring Chickens, and
Zombie Dinosaurs.
First time Destruct-O-Tron doodler
Daniel Arruda Massa has captured Todd's belligerent holiday spirit with this charming pinup:
Daniel is my collaborator on
"The Graphic Novel Formerly Known As The Bible 2" a.k.a. **** *U*** a.k.a. I'm not telling you the actual title until the project is totally wrapped and we have a publisher. If you dig Super Haters, I think you're gonna go nuts for our graphic novel so keep an eye out for an announcement in 2014!
He's also shares weekly webcomics on the
Dead Mondays blog and has
a bunch of other cool comics here.
As for the Haters, I know that they've been MIA recently. Well, the next story is almost done and others are in progress so D-Tron and Mind's Eye will be back next year with 26 new strips before everything ends with #500! However, tomorrow I'll be releasing the new Guest Artists v2 eBook, so I'll catch ya then ;)
Here's another awesome
Solomon Mars pinup!
In the grand tradition of
last week's awesome art, Smars kills it again! This time we've got magic vs. magic as Nilufa goes up against her Cauldron Club rival, Aretha.
So what's next, you ask? Be back here in a week to watch the teaser trailer for a brand new Super Haters story arc featuring incredible art by
Angela Capel!
I commissioned my buddy
Solomon Mars to draw some kickass pinups of the Super Haters vs. the Marvelous Detectives!
Solomon is an incredible artist who cranks out
brilliant webcomics by the
metric ton. Next week, I'll be back here with another one of his pinups. And in two weeks, I'll be back with a trailer for the next Super Haters story arc!
Mista masta blasta
Andrew Kilian does it again with another awesome Super Haters sketch!!!
Nice slacks, amiright?
Honestly, Andrew and I haven't talked about this sketch, so I can only speak for myself when I say that I like to think of this as pulp Destruct-O-Tron. Or Golden Age Destruct-O-Tron (ya know, back before editorial got their grubby mitts on Todd Purvee and made him gay a businessman with a boy toy in Hong Kong).
'Kay, see ya on Monday with new comics!!
Here's a super surprise from awesome artiste
(that's right... he gets an extra "E") Andrew Kilian:
You can check out Andrew's original sketches of
Destruct-O-Bot and
Mind's Eye on deviantART.
(My apologies to Andrew for getting rid of Bot's bold background... I just couldn't make it work in a composite image like this!) And you can also read
our kickass Super Haters collaboration from last fall. THX KILIAN!!!!
Andrew Kilian has done it again!!! He's upped the bar for kickass and sexy depictions of Destruct-O-Tron. Look at these juicy thighs:
HOW FUCKING AWESOME IS THAT? I'll tell you how awesome it is... it's so fucking awesome that I just felt a little explosion in my brain. Seriously, something popped in there from the sheer fantasticness of this drawing.
I really dig the new shoulder bolts and the torso design. Beautiful stuff. Thx Andrew!!!!!!!!!
If you wanna zoom in on this gorgeous sketch,
check it out on deviantART and then
go look at more of Andrew's work.
Yesterday, I shared some awesome Super Haters fanfic by Brian John Mitchell. Today, I'm proud to share another kickass fan rewrite:
Brett Wallwork, recent
Destruct-O-Cast guest, followed Brian's lead and dished out a rewrite of
Super Haters #327 on
Facebook. And I just love his punchline. Totally gross and totally great!!!
If you wanna do your own Haters fanfic
* (or rewrite or whatever the hell you wanna call it)... GO FOR IT!!! I'd be super honored :) Just post it to the
Super Haters Facebook page.
*I should add that not all jokes will be home runs with me. The Haters toe a fine line between tact and tasteless, and experience has taught me that me that I don't always see eye-to-eye with other writers on the jokes that they find right for Destruct-O-Tron and Mind's Eye. But I love Brian and Brett's fan comics and I'd love to see yours too... and if I dig yours, then I'll post 'em here on the blog!!!
Soooooo... the Haters have been on an indefinite hiatus for the past few weeks. (You knew that, right? Well, if you didn't, then now you know.) But despite my lack of new Super Haters strips, something awesome happened... SUPER HATERS FAN FICTION!
Brian John Mitchell, recent
featured Destruct-O-Cast podcaster and former
Haters guest writer, couldn't wait for my lazy ass to make new comics... so
he made his own.
And not only did he crank out a great joke, but he also inspired more Super Haters rewrites! Be back tomorrow to take a look inside the brilliant and bizarre mind of Brett.
It's no secret that
Andrew Kilian draws a killer Mind's Eye, and his latest sketch is no exception:
Originally, I flirted with the notion of coloring this gem. But then I stripped away
Andrew's construction lines (which you can
check out on deviantART), and I was blown away by the beauty of his line art.
Thus I proudly present this delectable drawing of Nilufa Nahari wearing a sari... in all of its bare black and white elegance!
There's something I've been hiding from you and I need to come clean: I'm collaborating on a Super Haters Guest Week with the enormously skilled
Scott Hedlund.
In preparation for his guest stint, Scott did some incredible character sketches and I just have to share these beauties with you:
Obviously, this gives away the characters we're gonna use in our story -- Destruct-O-Tron and Mind's Eye will be there, and they're bringing Captain Nasty and Mulldusa along for the ride.
Personally, I really dig Scott's interpretation of the Destruct-O-Gear 5000 armor. It has tons of fluidity with just a touch of bulkiness in there to drive home the fact that it's armor and not just a second skin.
Anyway, Scott's come up with a really crazy concept for our story that's sure to have you both captivated and confused right up until the very end. It's gonna be sweet!
Kaylie emailed me this killer sketch last night:
Awesome, right? But I bet you're wondering why she sent it to me... well, it's because we're working on a Super Haters story together!! And it's a totally fucked up story. I promise it'll creep you out and make your laugh. Or I'll give you your money back.
You can check out more of Kaylie's kickass art on
her blog and at
deviantART.
The spectacular artist of the recent
Andrew Kilian Guest Week story arc posted this sketch
on his deviantART account earlier this week:
Thx, Andrew!!! Kickass art, as always.
A couple of weeks ago, cartoonist
Evan Hodgins surprised me with this gorgeous sketch of Nilufa Nahari:
It's fantastic, right? I love how the colors interact with the pencil lines. A very elegant Mind's Eye portrait.
Make sure you check out Evan's webcomic,
of Noobs and Men, and his podcast,
of Pods and Men.
I received an unexpected gift from my friend, podcast collaborator, and
former Super Haters guest writer, Ross Campbell. The gift was...
...this super kickass awesome Mind's Eye sketch! I love how it captures her constant frustration, yet also manages to convey the fact that she's that given up and accepted Destruct-O-Tron's bullshit as a part of her daily life. Annoyed meets ennui!! I like the little touches -- her nail polish, bracelets, earrings. Also, Ross is the first artist to acknowledge the fact that Mind's Eye has no eyebrows!
I'm sure you already know Ross as the creator of such stellar stories as Wet Moon, Shadoweyes, Water Baby, and The Abandoned... or maybe you've heard he's the artist for Image's Glory relaunch. Point is, he's got a lot of fantastic comics in print and in the works. Check 'em out! Follow the
Shadoweyes blog, keep up with
Ross on deviantART, and listen to us conversate on
A Podcast with Ross and Nick.
Yesterday morning, I received a
cryptic tweet... and after 24 hours of patiently checking my email without any breaks for food, drink, bathroom, or sleep...
this finally arrived in my inbox:
Gorgeous, right? It's drawn by writer/artist
Brian Wimberly, creator of
Sanctuary School (which is an awesome webcomic, so go read it right now!). This rad portrait of Nilufa totally made my holiday weekend.
THX, Brian!!!!
Speaking of incredible art, keep a watch on the
Super Haters Tumblr all next week because I'll be posting teases from the impending Nils-Petter Norlin Guest Week starting on September 12th.
I am beyond honored that
Andrew Kilian has taken another crack at Destruct-O-Tron. Check out the excellent results:
He looks so noble, doesn't he? I love it. THX, Andrew!!!
Also, you can check out Andrew's
first Destruct-O-Tron sketch and his
super sexy Super Haters sketch.
