Happy April Fools' Day from Mind's Eye and Destruct-O-Tron!



To celebrate this most momentous of holidays, I'm proud to announce that there's a Super Haters digital comic now available on ComiXology, that megalith near-monopoly of a digital comics storefront.

The $2.99 collection is called Super Haters: Incredibly Irresponsible and it contains seven remixed and remastered Haters stories featuring the art of Andrew Kilian, Brandon Williams, E.D., Francisco Gruel, Kaylie McDougal, Nils-Petter Norlin, and Shawn Atkins. Plus we've got a cover by Carrie Howarth!

The comic is formatted for ComiXology's panel-by-panel Guided View Native mode, which gave me the opportunity to chop things up and have some fun with the pacing. I think it creates a whole new rad reading experience for these seven tales and I hope you agree too!

Honestly, Andrew and I haven't talked about this sketch, so I can only speak for myself when I say that I like to think of this as pulp Destruct-O-Tron. Or Golden Age Destruct-O-Tron (ya know, back before editorial got their grubby mitts on Todd Purvee and made him gay a businessman with a boy toy in Hong Kong).

Andrew Kilian has done it again!!! He's upped the bar for kickass and sexy depictions of Destruct-O-Tron. Look at these juicy thighs:



HOW FUCKING AWESOME IS THAT? I'll tell you how awesome it is... it's so fucking awesome that I just felt a little explosion in my brain. Seriously, something popped in there from the sheer fantasticness of this drawing.

I really dig the new shoulder bolts and the torso design. Beautiful stuff. Thx Andrew!!!!!!!!!

It's no secret that Andrew Kilian draws a killer Mind's Eye, and his latest sketch is no exception:



Originally, I flirted with the notion of coloring this gem. But then I stripped away Andrew's construction lines (which you can check out on deviantART), and I was blown away by the beauty of his line art.

Thus I proudly present this delectable drawing of Nilufa Nahari wearing a sari... in all of its bare black and white elegance!

WHOOPH! It's finally done! I'm so proud of the story Andrew Kilian and I have told with these five pages. Sorry it took so long to come out! Andrew's art is so detailed that I greatly underestimated the amount of time I needed to color it.

And the fact of the matter is that the colors are still evolving! I'll be posting a link to the finalized story later this week, by which time I'll have made some corrections to all of the previous strips. So keep an eye out for the remastered Andrew Kilian Guest Week!

Mega huge super giant THX to Andrew for giving this story a shot. I had a ton of fun and I learned a lot along the way. Make sure to check out more of Andrew's art on his deviantART page.

FINALLY!!! Here's what I've been promising you -- a detailed description of my collaboration with Andrew:

I emailed him and asked him if he wanted to draw the Super Haters. He said yes. Then he told me what kind of story he wanted to draw. I wrote up a plot. He liked it, so I turned it into a script. He drew it. I colored and lettered it.

And that's it!!! I hope you enjoyed that thorough account of our complex collaboration. Now be back on Wednesday for the conclusion to this kickass story arc.

Oh, and one more thing -- over the weekend I posted all of the Reality story arc on Facebook. So if you missed it or you just wanna relive the laughs, go read it in one big chunk.

I know I've been promising a detailed account of my collaboration with Andrew... but I'm under another serious time crunch!!! I really do plan on giving a detailed account, though. So let's just suppose that'll happen along with #303 on Monday, kay? In the meantime, check out Andrew's awesome lineart for #300 over on his deviantART account.

I hate to do this, but I have to push back Super Haters #302 until tomorrow! I feel that Andrew Kilian's fantastic art deserves a high level of attention, and I'm not willing to half-ass my part of the package. I mean, just take a look at this teaser for tomorrow's comic:



Gorgeous, right? He's done a fantastic job on the art and I want to do it justice with my colors and letters.

Also, I know what you're wondering -- what mysterious threat will Mind's Eye and Destruct-O-Tron face tomorrow??? I won't tell you... but I will promise HOT CHICK-ON-CHICK ACTION!!!

Anyway, if you listened to today's A Podcast with Ross and Nick, then you know that I'm coming down with something. From behind a haze, I've been slowly cranking away on #302 all day. And I looked up a few minutes ago and realized that it's dark out!

Add that to the fact that I don't have enough lead time on Andrew's awesome guest story, and the result is that I'm going to spread out his remaining three comic strips. Here's a revised schedule for the rest of our collaboration:

Also, I've been keeping a secret from you... my collaboration with Andrew is going to be immediately followed by another one! My friend and fantastic artist Byron Winton is both writing and drawing a special over-sized Super Haters Guest Week themed around the concept of identity. Get ready to see the Super Haters characters in some unexpected and dramatic situations.

Since I'm pushing back Andrew's week, I'm also going to add another week to Byron's start time. His fantastic arc will begin on Monday, December 5th and it'll run daily for its duration. To whet your appetite for his fantastic work, I'll be posting two teasers a day here on the blog from December 1-4 (that's next Thu-Sun).

My apologies for messing up the regular schedule. But I know you'll find both the rest of Andrew's guest spot and Byron's guest spot very much worth the wait! See you bright and early tomorrow with Super Haters #302.
