Happy April Fools' Day from Mind's Eye and Destruct-O-Tron!
To celebrate this most momentous of holidays, I'm proud to announce that there's a Super Haters digital comic
now available on ComiXology, that megalith near-monopoly of a digital comics storefront.
The $2.99 collection is called
Super Haters: Incredibly Irresponsible and it contains seven remixed and remastered Haters stories featuring the art of
Andrew Kilian,
Brandon Williams, E.D.,
Francisco Gruel,
Kaylie McDougal, Nils-Petter Norlin, and
Shawn Atkins. Plus we've got a cover by
Carrie Howarth!
The comic is formatted for ComiXology's panel-by-panel Guided View Native mode, which gave me the opportunity to chop things up and have some fun with the pacing. I think it creates a whole new rad reading experience for these seven tales and I hope you agree too!
Eye of the Mind and Animatronic Destruction Savior
beat the shit outta the Super Haters... forcing Mind's Eye to summon help!!
Wham-bam thank ya ma'am! Manga Haters is a wrap. Mucho super huge
THX to Brandon for joining me to tell this tale. And in honor of my kick-asstic collaboration with Brandon, I've got a new Destruct-O-Cast podcast for you!!
Brandon and I talk a little bit about our collaboration, but really this episode is a chance for you to learn more about Brandon as an artist. He shares about his background as a musician, his work on
Dedford Tales, his awesome pics from Toyko that turned into photo ref, his anime and manga influences, his digital art process, and tons more.
And don't forget -- Brandon is
open for commissions!! If you dug his work in this story, then hit him up for a personalized piece of art!
Finally, I'm psyched to announce that I'm in the process of overhauling the way I sell eBooks. My digital storefront will relaunch on Monday, February 25, 2013 with a new eBook and some extra special sonic goodies for you if you're a Super Haters fan!
Mind's Eye and Destruct-O-Tron have
antagonized Eye of the Mind and Animatronic Destruction Savior into violent action!
YEEAAAAAAHHH!! I love this page :D
Brandon and I knew pretty early on that we wanted the Manga Haters to have their own team mecha / zord / whatever you wanna call it. And thus the Supa Hatra was born!! Why's it a walrus? CUZ WALRUSES ARE FUCKING SWEET! That's why.
I had a ball lettering this. Brandon went all out with the action and left me just the right space to get wild with the text. SMOOSH!
And then there are the Fantasy Haters. Wanna find out more about 'em? Be back tomorrow for our final page!! Plus, we'll have a brand new Destruct-O-Cast podcast for you.
Giant mutant panda bears
attacked the U.N. in Tokyo!!! Luckily, the
Super Haters Manga Haters were there to save the day.
Oooooooooooooooooooo!!! Tensions flare!!
Speaking of which, I get into a bit of a argument on today's
A Podcast with Ross and Nick #146.
Kelly Thompson joins
Ross and I, and Kelly and I resume our ongoing "so bad it's good" debate which leads us into a disagreement about the value of films (and comics, for that matter) that are pushed forward by executives and producers vs. pitched by writers and directors. That's sort of an oversimplification of the issue, but it's kinda hard to sum up in a sentence or two.
Anyway, back to Super Haters... how fucking cool do the characters look in today's comic?
Brandon Williams killed it again!!!
Be back tomorrow for the ultimate throwdown -- Manga Haters vs. Super Haters!!!
Mind's Eye and Destruct-O-Tron were summoned by a
telepathic distress call from a mysterious masked woman!
BIG ACTION!!! The script for this story called for lots of fighting and mayhem, and
Brandon Williams totally knocked it out of the park. This is definitely the most action-packed Haters story to date and I love it <3!!! Also, Brandon and I will be podcasting about this story tomorrow, so if you have any questions for us then you betta ask 'em now!
Yesterday, I was in included in the
first Artists Spotlight for the Memory comics anthology on Kickstarter. Edited by Jeremy Baum, this 180-page graphic novel features work from over 40 artists from 8 different countries. Check out the
Memory Kickstarter campaign and please consider ordering it! (BTW the $10 pledge level will get you some of my eBooks!!!)
Today sees the release of
AudioShocker Podcast #239, wherein Neal and I discuss Tommy Lee's spinning drum kit from 1987, stupid people who sign up for shit with my email, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Also, we've got a new podcast on AudioShocker.com called
VACANT Bits, featuring webcomics, video games, and pop culture conversation.
Tomorrow? The fan gets hit with some serious shit!!!
WHAM BAM!!! Following on the heels of
another weird and wild Guest Week, a new ludicrous five-pager begins now with...
I'm so excited to be here today sharing the first page of this latest and zaniest Super Haters story with you!!
Brandon Williams has knocked my fucking socks off with this art. If you love superheroes and big action as much as I do, I know you're gonna dig his spectacular vision of Mind's Eye and Destruct-O-Tron.
Brandon is an accomplished artist, storyteller, and self-publisher. You can check out more of his
pretty pictures on deviantART or read his epic ongoing adventure,
Dedford Tales. Last but not even close to least,
he's currently accepting commissions... so whaddaya waiting for? GO GET ONE!!!
If you're curious about where this story is going, I'll give you a hint -- we've dubbed it "Manga Haters" and the title's pretty fucking accurate. Of course, there are plenty of twists and surprises along the way... so don't try and act like you got it all figured out just yet!
See ya tomorrow for
Porn and Tofurky Day the next installment of this bizarre story.
We've got action and alternate reality galore in
this new trailer for my upcoming collaboration with Brandon Williams of
Dedford Tales:
Manga Haters a.k.a.
Brandon Williams Guest Week begins next Monday, February 11th, 2013 in Super Haters #460!
Brandon has pulled out all the stops for this story, blending oodles of action and mayhem with fantastic character designs. Mind's Eye and Destruct-O-Tron look incredible as they
get their asses beat kick ass!!!
But that's not all for today! Over the weekend, I chimed in on a new webcomics meme inspired by a print-centric (and stupid)
Doonesbury comic strip by Garry Trudeau:
Thx to
Gyno-Star for cluing me into the whole thing. Anyway, see ya next week for the start of the Manga Haters story!!
