Ooooo!!! Destruct-O-Tron has a new adversary! I guess that's what he gets for actually fighting crime instead of sitting around the house all day eating cheese puffs and watching softcore porn erotic thrillers.

EDIT: Sorry, I've removed the free eBooks! You can purchase the updated versions here (PDF only).

I know these aren't going to be of much interest to most of you, but I've also made some .mobi versions of the Super Haters eBooks. If you're a .mobi reader, I'd love to get your feedback on how these function for you!

  • Super Haters vol. 3 .mobi - collecting #260-349

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

In Super Haters news, this week Nick Dupree is using our Project Wonderful banner to advertise his webcomic Bunnies in Space. Give it a click and check out his comics!

In non-Haters news, there's a new episode of A Podcast with Ross and Nick out today. Ross and I discuss a butt load of stuff, from X-Men comics to TMNT comics and movies to a bunch of other movies to shitty Hollywood casting practices to claw machines and more. And at the end, we announce the return of EXTREME, our marathon challenge to rewatch and review every episode of the awful 90s X-Men: The Animated Series.

Anyway, see ya tomorrow with some .mobi versions of the Super Haters eBooks and the fate of Wet Dream!!!!
While Mind's Eye wanders off to hunt down Mr. Magnifico, Destruct-O-Tron is stuck with the murderous Wet Dream.

Today's webcomic features what is possibly the longest payoff in Super Haters history!! Destruct-O-Tron first mentioned his Laser Cannon back in Super Haters #5 (which was originally posted three years ago yesterday).

And while hunting down the links to that old webcomic, I just realized it has a typo in it -- I spelled cannon as "canon" by mistake. Bonus points for catching a three-year-old typo!!!

Also, today is my homage to Kevin Hopgood's incredible Iron Man artwork from the early 90s.

Following up on yesterday's blog post, I got so much awesome feedback on the eBooks on Facebook. Big ups to everyone who shared their opinions and advice. I'm still looking for more thoughts on the PDFs I posted yesterday, so download 'em while they're still free!!

See ya tomorrow when I'll reveal the shocking fate of Wet Dream (a.k.a. "Fried Fish")!!!
Wet Dream is going to kill Destruct-O-Tron!!!

You wouldn't believe the horrible (and wonderful) things I witnessed while researching today's punchline. It took me an unprecedented 25 hours of combing the internet to make sure that look alike porn is a real thing. I had to search, verify, research, reverify, re-research, re-reverify, go to sleep, wake up, re-re-reverify, pass out in a puddle of my own juices, wake up again, re-re-re-reverify, and so on. Eventually, it was clear to me that look alike porn is the real deal (errrr, uhhh... almost the real deal, that is).

Anyway, enough about my exhaustive "research"... let's talk about the other thing I did this weekend -- EBOOKS!!! I spent waaaay too much time conceiving, formatting, and converting Destruct-O-Tron and Mind's Eye into easily digestible chunks of booky goodness. I'm still in the early stages of getting these babies up and running, so the Super Haters eBooks will be free for the time being. But we're not talking about a large amount of time here -- maybe about a week or something like that... so download them now:

EDIT: Sorry, I've removed the free eBooks! Except for the Guest Artists eBook, that is. That one is still free. Anyway, you can purchase the other ebooks here.

Super Haters eBooks (beta stage)

It would mean the world to me if you'd be my beta testers and try out these PDF versions of the Haters eBooks. You can leave feedback here in the comments or email me at info@superhaters.com. Volumes 1-3 are about 9 MB a piece, clocking in around 70-80 pages each. All of the stories by last year's Guest Writers are contained in Volume 2. The Guest Artists collection is close to 12 MB and features work by Nils-Petter Norlin, Andrew Kilian, Byron Winton, Scott Hedlund, and Virginia Shields.
THE CRIME ALARM HAS SOUNDED! Mind's Eye and Destruct-O-Tron are on the scene, ready for action.

If you hate animated GIFs, here's a static PNG version of today's webcomic. But enough of that... D-Tron is back, baby!!! BTW, have you heard D-Train before? They're fucking great. Here's "Keep On."

Soooooo I don't have any podcasts or music to share with you today. I mean, I wrote this blog post about Jean-Claude Van Damme earlier today. But uhhhh do you even care?

My Spidey Sense tells me Randall is lying out of his ass. *snicker* Damn, I am just so fucking punny today!!

Following up on yesterday, I sent out my email about Super Haters Guest Weeks (sorry to those of you I've already collaborated with, but this email was only for new collaborators... your email will go out in a week or so!). Hopefully I'll have some kickass news for you soon :D

But wait... don't go yet!!! My biggest news of the day is that I podcasted with my webcomics hero -- Rebecca Cohen, creator of The Adventures of Gyno-Star -- on Sequential Underground #46. We discuss genre and format in webcomics.

In particular, we spend a lot of time elaborating on the differences between gag-a-day comic strips vs. ongoing narratives. That's especially relevant for me because yesterday's strip eschewed the typical Haters punchline and went with a non-joke to push the plot forward. That's something I've been wanting to do more and more lately, though I don't want to betray my readers who've come to expect a zany joke every day. AHHHHHHH!!! Creative dilemma!!!

Anyway, be back tomorrow for the return of Destruct-O-Tron.
Wet Dream has gone to see Mind's Eye to beg for his old job back.

Ooooooooooooooooooooo... that was a devious mutherfucking "Hmmmm..."!!! What is Wet Dream plotting?

Today, I shared my Nik Furious song Summers. I don't think I've ever spoken much about this song, let alone posted it to anything other than MySpace. So check out my blog post about the making of Summers!!! It's jam-packed with useless information.

As for Super Haters stuff, I thought I'd let you know that there are four Guest Week scripts floating out in the ether right now, paired up with four fantastic artists. I can't wait to see what they whip up!!!

With that said, these artists are busy people and just because we want to collaborate together doesn't mean that the stories will make it all the way to the finish line, at least within the next couple of months. These things take time, damn it!!!

With that said, I'm going to be contacting a new wave of artists I want to work with today. If you're an artist interested in collaborating with me on a short Super Haters story, drop me a line and we can start talking shop :D

Mind's Eye is back!! And Destruct-O-Tron isn't too far behind ;D

Over the weekend, I posted a couple of videos I made back in the mid-00s. First up is Emancipation, a questionable deep art film from 2003 featuring a guy in an Abraham Lincoln costume smashing stuff with a baseball bat. The version I've posted is a re-edit, including a new backing song and a tighter runtime.

Next up is Spider-Man vs. Xandu, a stupid NSFW Spidey parody I filmed in 2005. I play multiple roles in this lo-fi, low brow stinker. It features an original song I recorded to go along with it, which I guarantee is faaaaar better than video.

Lastly, Haters artist extraordinaire Andrew Kilian is looking to make a few extra bucks, and he's offering awesome sketches at super-low prices. Check out his deviantART journal post about it for more info.

This is maybe the worst joke I've ever told in a Super Haters comic strip. It's so bad that it doesn't even work on its own. You have to think back to Marvelous Detectives #1 to really get the punchline, and even then it still blows.

Anyway, I promise things'll get better next Monday when Mind's Eye makes her return ;D

SHIIIIIIIIIT!!! So much to talk about today.

First off, today's special guest star is Shadoweyes, the kickass vigilante created by Ross Campbell. You may remember that Shadoweyes previously entered into a partnership with Mind's Eye after Destruct-O-Tron "died."

Next up, today I've posted the 500th podcast on AudioShocker.com. In this latest episode, Neal and I deliver our signature style of podcast vérité conversation, discussing goofy religious ceremonies, The Inbetweeners, the In-Betweener, and awful Dane Cook comedy.

As for Super Haters news, the Critiquing Comics podcast took a look at the Haters and, well, they didn't like what they saw! They gave us 3 out of 10 stars. ★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

However, during the episode, Tim and Mulele were a bit confused about some of the particulars of the webcomic, including the credits. And that's my fault for not spelling it out more clearly here on the site. So I've added an About page which should hopefully clear up any confusion about who does what and why we do it.

The About page is something I've been wanting to do for a while but just didn't get around to it. Same goes for the new Contact page. I've also added a placeholder for the future Super Haters Shop, something that'll be growing very soon. And, lastly, I added a Wallpapers page featuring a bunch of awesome art by past Haters guest artists and a couple of pics featuring the standard Haters art by yours truly :D

Way to go, Battle Pixie. Now Wet Dream is even more confused!!!

In other news, the Haters make a background appearance in the latest page from Jeremy Baum's Extravagant Traveler comic. The story's main character Ed Piskor has a wall adorned with posters featuring comics made by Pittsburgh creators, including Shawn Atkins's Gello Apolcalypse, Tom Scioli's Godland, Jim Rugg's Afrodisiac, and the Super Haters.

But regardless of D-Tron and Mind's Eye, you should check out this page anyway because Jeremy's art is fucking sweet!!! He's got a totally unique style with gorgeous raw line work and fantastic hues that beautifully straddle the line between gray tones and colors. And if I'm lucky, you'll be hearing a lot more about Jeremy here on the Super Haters blog in the coming months...
Wet Dream doesn't like his new work place as much as he initially thought because he's generally being treated like shit.

"Not in my contract" ain't gonna work on the Marvelous Detectives, Wet Dream!! At least, not like it worked with Mind's Eye.

As for other stuff I got goin' on today, I play Ed McMahon on Shawn Atkins's new podcast, Gello Shots. Similar to the Destruct-O-Cast, Gello Shots is a chance for Shawn to share behind-the-scenes info about the creation and production of his webcomic, Gello Apocalypse. Plus, he'll be reviewing webcomics, comic books, and more on the show. It's gonna be fun. I hope you dig the first episode :D

Tomorrow in Marvelous Detectives: Wet Dream gets a taste of his own medicine.

Remember when Destruct-O-Tron was trying to recruit his own henchman? Ahhhhh, those were good times.

Speaking of good times, get your mutherfucking asses back here tomorrow for another installment of Marvelous Detectives. <3

So, yeah... we're back to three panels again. I was getting a little burned out on the six-panels-five-days-a-week thing. Don't get me wrong -- it's not a savage amount of work or anything. But I missed the slightly less rigorous three panel format, so I switched back for now.

Here's the thing about three panel strips, though -- they're harder to write. With the six panel stuff, you have more room for characters to extrapolate on a situation. With three, not only do you have to set up a joke in only two exchanges, but you have to make somebody feel like they're not wasting their time by only reading in three panel chunks. A deceptively difficult task!!

"A bold and daring new direction for cut-and-paste superhero satire webcomics, brought to you by the creators of the Super Haters. Goodbye Destruct-O-Tron and Mind's Eye... hello Marvelous Detectives!!!"

For this new story arc, I've decided to eschew our regular branding and instead shine the spotlight on a different kind of superteam. While Mind's Eye and Destruct-O-Tron run a homepsun effort with the Super Haters, the Marvelous Detectives are the premiere corporate superteam of their universe. This new story arc will explore Wet Dream's experience as the newbie on a team full of seasoned veterans. It'll also mercilessly mock the horrible shit that companies try to do to their employees.

If you're reading today's webcomic on the Super Haters website (as opposed to getting it delivered to your email, which you can sign up for in the top of our sidebar), you've surely noticed the new banner ad we've got at the top of the page. I know it's a bit of a change for those of you who've been following the Haters for awhile. I just launched it last night and I'm still getting a feel for the system. Hopefully it'll link you to some other awesome comics and products around the web that you might be interested in.

It's powered by Project Wonderful, a user-interactive effort where people bid on the ad space they want. So the banner you see above isn't some auto-filled generic junk. This is an ad from from someone who chose to put it there. That means it's okay to click on it and see what they're offering -- you might really dig what you find! If you're a Project Wonderful advertiser and you're interested in running your ad on the Super Haters site, you can bid on us here.
